Serves: Makes one cocktail

Old Fashioned Cocktail

Substitute honeyed simple syrup in this new take on a classic cocktail.

Ingredients

Cocktail:

1 tablespoon honeyed simple syrup

2 dashes bitters

2 ounces rye whiskey or bourbon

1 1-inch strip lemon rind

1 amarena cherry

Honeyed Simple Syrup:

1/4 cup water

1/4 cup Acacia Honey from Franca Franzoni


Instructions

Shake syrup, bitters and whiskey with a handful of ice cubes in a cocktail shaker. Strain and serve in a highball glass garnished with lemon twist and amarena cherry.

To make Honeyed Simple Syrup: In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add honey. Once dissolved, remove from heat and let cool to room temperature. Refrigerate for up to 3 weeks.
