Flavor: Made with Darjeeling tea leaves, Earl Grey Imperial is beautifully balanced with mild, delicate notes of bergamot and a lingering floral finish.
Drink this tea with: Buttery oatcakes slathered with a decadent triple cream cheese, like Brillat Savarin, make a perfect pairing with this French tea.
Cooking with tea: Breakfast anyone? Enjoy a stack of tea-infused Earl Grey Tea Latte Pancakes from the I am a Food blog.
Words from Mariage Frères tea house: “A grand tea. Darjeeling exquisitely flavoured with bergamot.”
I used to buy this tea in Paris and am so happy to have found a source with Market Hall Foods. My favorite Earl Grey.

It’s a very high quality tea, but the aromatics are just way too strong for my taste. I am diluting it with some plain black tea.

The Best Tea
This is my favorite Marriage Freres tea. It’s a complete experience: gustatory, olfactory, sensual, imaginary. It has to be the freshest possible, though!

Refined "Cuppa"
I have been enjoying Marriage Freres teas for many years since I first encountered it at Selfridges in London. The Earl Grey Imperial is one of my favorites. The rich tones of the Darjeeling melded with the lavender notes and the hint of citrus from the bergamot makes it the perfect "cuppa" for afternoon tea. It also makes for wonderful Earl Grey ice cream and gelato. Seeping the the tea in scalding milk provides a perfect base for making homemade frozen treats.
