Paris Breakfast Tea by Mariage Frères
Black & Green Tea Blend Inspired by the City of Lights
Tea Type: Blend of black & green tea
Flavor: With notes of almonds and toasted brioche, Paris Breakfast is not your average breakfast tea.
Drink this tea with: Close your eyes and let yourself be transported to the tea salons of Paris - enjoy this French tea with a rich, melt-in-your-mouth French butter cookie.
Cooking with tea: Create a sweet poaching liquid with lightly brewed tea and honey for fruit such as pears or stone fruit like peaches and nectarines.
Words from Mariage Frères tea house: “Here, the city of Paris shines in a new light: introducing Paris Breakfast Tea. A cross between traditional savoir-faire and clever imagination, this eloquent and passionate tea, rich in aroma, hovering between gastronomy and poetry and handcrafted by Mariage Frères chief tea blender is simply marvellous. A zesty, honeyed note caresses the nose, promising pure delight in the cup: the blend of grand, flamboyant black teas gives a smooth, round texture to the liquor and evolves over time. Held together by the tasty notes of malted chocolate, tender vanilla and warm brioche and adorned by a sweet fruitiness not unlike candied tangerine. A hint of China green tea unfurls at the end, freshening the palate, sparkling and harmonious.”
This tea reminds me of the Mariage Freres tearoom near the Musee Picasso in Paris. Wonderful.
Paris Breakfast is wonderful, but Marco Polo is the bomb!!!
Paris Breakfast Tea is the reward for getting out of bed. A morning zen. Perfect companion for one’s thoughts, gazing out window at the day beginning or afternoon, enjoying with a pastry or jammed toast or a chocolate croissant. This tea is only meant to be used while enjoying a moment in life, do not attempt to work while enjoying this tea because the tea will command your attention to the moment until your cup is dry.
Not only is the flavor of this tea wonderful so is the aroma! When I open the tin to make a cup of tea I always enjoy a deep breathe of the aroma. All the MF teas are exceptional. Once you try them you'll never enjoy another brand. I have my daily 'tea' routine -- a cup of Paris Breakfast in the morning, then mid-morning a cup of Earl Gray French Blue (talk about aroma) and in the late afternoon a cup of Chandernagor , nice spicy aroma, simply the very best Chi tea.
The combination of the brioche/bread notes and the candied citrus notes in this one remind me of Panettone. One of my favourite MF teas for certain. I take it slightly sweetened but it's great even without. As with all MF teas, the leaves hold up well to a second steeping, and I make iced tea out of the second batch -- almost as delicious cold as it is hot. The citrus is the predominant flavour when chilled.
