Noble Sweet Paprika from Burlap & Barrel

A classic Hungarian seasoning, Noble Sweet Paprika is brimming with ripe tomato and bell pepper-like flavor. It doesn’t have the smokiness of Spanish Pimentón or the fiery heat of Szegedi 178 Hot Paprika, but instead, a distinct fruity depth. Burlap & Barrel works with a small regenerative farm in Kalocsa, the oldest paprika-growing region of Hungary, that cultivates the two heirloom varieties of peppers that go into this jar: Szegedi 80, known for its deep red color and sweetness, and mihályteleki, known for its rich fragrance. The peppers are picked at peak-ripeness, hung in mesh bags to cure and once dehydrated, ground into a fine powder.

How to use

Noble Sweet Paprika is essential for chicken paprikash, goulash, stuffed cabbage and more traditional Hungarian dishes, but it’s also a vibrant addition to tomato soup or white bean stew. Rub it over potatoes before roasting, add a sprinkle over baked fish, or stir it into the flour dredge for fried chicken.
