Traditional, Rustic Pasta Cut from Southern Italy

Now available in a larger 4.4-pound bulk pasta lover's bag!

Casareccia, meaning "home style," is typical of southern Italy. The narrow, twisted rolls were originally made by hand-wrapping the dough around a slim knife or wooden pin, and the resulting folds are perfect for holding onto sauce. Casareccia works best with rustic (i.e., chunky) sauces such as a hearty meat ragù or soups like pasta e ceci (pasta with chickpeas).

About the producer

In 1981, Nicolina Peduzzi decided to revive the pastificio (pasta factory) her father had started 50 years earlier in a small town in Abruzzo, Italy. More family members joined the business, which quickly grew into one of the most extensive artisanal pasta lines in Italy. Nicolina, the matriarch, remains the keeper of artisan core values, which she demonstrates personally at every incredible meal she cooks for the family. (And in fact, in the Peduzzi family, many important business decisions are made over a heaping dish of spaghetti!) It is these wonderful meals and moments shared at the family table that ensure that Rustichella d’Abruzzo will continue to maintain high levels of integrity, professionalism and passion for quality.

Great pasta.

Great pasta, great service.

Straight from the heart of Italy!

This pasta is divine, and like no other pasta I have eaten. It has just the right bite, cooked al dente, and absolutely fabulous. Tonight I served it with the Tomato Sauce with Sweet Peppers from Masseria Mirogallo (you can see my review there) and I felt like I was in a fine restaurant in Italy. Will repurchase, for SURE.
