These smooth, burgundy-hued flakes go by many names, including Aleppo pepper and Marash chile. Burlap & Barrel’s Silk Chili is botanically identical to Aleppo pepper and is packed with the same warm, tomato-like flavor and mild heat that adds depth to everything from scrambled eggs to roast chicken. Sun-dried and stone-ground in Kahramanmaraş, Turkey, these pepper flakes are preserved with a touch of sunflower oil and salt to maintain their freshness.
Silk Chili’s mellow heat makes it a versatile spice. Try adding to it our Melon and Jicama Fruit Salad, rubbed over roasted potatoes or squash, mixed into meatballs and marinades or sprinkled over hummus and other dips.
