There are as many different ways to make dukkah as there are to eat it. Originating in Egypt and enjoyed throughout the Middle East, dukkah is a savory, nutty seasoning that adds crunch, warmth and tons of flavor to dips, roasted vegetables, salads, fish, poultry and so much more. While recipes for dukkah vary across regions and families, our house blend is loaded with toasted sesame seeds, crushed almonds, hazelnuts, cumin, coriander and sea salt for an earthy, warm zestiness that you’ll want to sprinkle over everything.

The most traditional way to serve dukkah is as a dip for pita or bread. First, dunk your slice into a bowl of extra virgin olive oil and then into a bowl of dukkah so it latches on. We also like to dress up store-bought labneh or hummus with a generous sprinkle of dukkah before company comes over. Dukkah also makes an excellent addition to breading. Try mixing it in with panko breadcrumbs to add texture and flavor to chicken or fish. Whisk dukkah into dressings to give your salads more oomph, sprinkle it over eggs, popcorn, and tomato slices drizzled with extra virgin olive oil—there’s really no going wrong.

Dukkah is difficult to find on the market ; I’m glad I found it at MP and will get it again. I like the crunchy texture and that it is without sodium.
