I got this for some Indian recipes by Madhur Jaffrey. This by far exceeded what I thought mustard oil would bring to a dish. If you love spice, this is a wonderful product to have.
I loved the spicy smell and flavor. I worry about using unapproved products because the manufactures are required to label them for external use only. I know that most people cook with the other mustard oils, but if also gives an unscrupulous supplier an opportunity to sell low grade products. I feel safer knowing this one is compliant and it is also a high quality product.
Growing up in Northern India, mustard oil was a staple at home. After moving to the United States I discovered that most of the mustard oil available is approved for cosmetic purposes only. After doing without for years I am thrilled to have discovered Yandilla. I can finally recreate my mother’s recipes just as she made them. The flavor is exactly as I remember. Special mention to the care with which the oil is packaged. Have been ordering from Market Hall Foods for close to two years and it arrives in perfect condition each time.
Mustard oil adds a whole new dimension to cooking ... cruciferous veggies for sure, Indian dishes, tofu, salads. I've long been looking for a safe, high quality oil, and this is it. (Certified low in eruric acid, which may carry health concerns ... but the jury is out even there - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erucic_acid ). In any case, this is a great oil.
I'm pleased that I gave this oil a try. Gives a great flavor to stir fried vegetables. Try it with baby broccoli!
