Italian Tomato Sauce with Black Olives

Rustichella d'Abruzzo has long been our favorite Italian jarred tomato sauce. Their Olive Tomato Sauce starts with vine ripened tomatoes, sweet sautéed onions, extra virgin olive oil and a touch of Sicilian sea salt. The addition of Italian black olives lends texture and delicate brininess to the sauce.

For an easy dinner, simply warm sauce and toss with your favorite pasta (the jar of sauce is perfect for a 1.1-pound bag of pasta) . Our good friend and resident Italian, Rolando Beramendi, recommends this sauce with shorter pasta cuts like penne, fusilli and casareccia. Or make an quick Puttanesca sauce - sauté slivers of garlic and anchovies in a couple tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil and then add the Olive Tomato Sauce. Cook for another 5 minutes until sauce is heated through and toss with spaghetti.
