Guittard Chocolate Company
When Etienne Guittard was lured from France to California hoping to strike it rich during the Gold Rush, he soon discovered he possessed something more valuable than gold—chocolate from his uncle’s factory. Realizing its popularity among the miners, he returned to France to hone his craft and in 1868, journeyed back to San Francisco to open Guittard Chocolate. Today, Guittard is known for their exacting standards, working with small farms to carefully select the best cocoa and customize blends to make sure only the best ends up in your kitchen.
