From Pasticceria Filippi, we're excited to bring to you a fresh take on the traditional fluffy Italian Christmas cake. Filippi's panettone gets special treatment this holiday season with the addition of chocolate chunks and candied orange peel. Crunch through the sugary crust to find chunks of fine Ecuadorean chocolate and pieces of soft, almost juicy, candied Sicilian orange peel that give the whole loaf a flowery citrus fragrance. The golden dough is made with the Filippi family’s 40-year-old yeast starter, plus free-range eggs, real Bourbon vanilla beans and butter for a light yet richly flavored bite.
Enjoy Chocolate Orange Panettone for dessert along with coffee, sweet white wine or sparkling wine, or your liqueur of choice. Eat leftover slices for breakfast (and snacks, and at teatime) toasted and topped with a dollop of mascarpone whisked with Grand Marnier. This special holiday cake would also make a delicious panettone bread pudding.
The orange/ chocolate is hard to find and this one is the freshest and most DELICIOUS one I’ve found!!
