This panettone is similar to Filippi’s Classic version, but with a twist: It does not have any raisins and the crust is topped with a sweet combination of pearl sugar and almonds. As with all of their panettone, Filippi uses the family’s original yeast starter to achieve the soft, brioche-like texture that makes panettone such a beloved holiday treat. Pieces of candied Calabrian orange peels dot the airy, vanilla-scented crumb, which tastes especially great served warm with a glass of dessert wine.
