Candied Morello Cherries
French Candied Cherries for Baking & More
These plump, perfectly soft candied sour cherries are good enough to eat like, well, candy! They have naturally dark color and deep flavor that brings to mind warm mulling spices. Use them year-round in scones, ice cream and chocolate tortes, or bake them into holiday sweets like fruitcake or the rich Italian Christmas bread, panettone. Although they are not swimming in syrup like many cocktail cherries, these sticky little Morellos would shine in a Manhattan or Champagne cocktail.

Thought these would be dried individual cherries. Turned out to be more like a tray of cherry preserves, all glopped together. Not a lot of flavor. Too expensive for what was sent.
I love fruitcake, but as I get older, I'm more and more put off by the colors of the glacé fruit in the supermarket. When I started my Christmas baking this year, I tried these and they were just amazing! They added wonderful flavor and worked beautifully in two different recipes.
(Also, it's impossible to find good candied fruit in Washington, DC and the Market Hall ordering and shipping processes were easy to navigate.)
