Traditional Egyptian Spice Blend
This Egyptian spice mixture is made by blending roasted sesame seeds, almonds and hazelnuts with ground cumin, coriander and sea salt. Traditionally, Dukkah is served alongside hearty pieces of bread or crisp vegetables and a small bowl of good extra virgin olive oil. Dip your bread or vegetable of choice in the olive oil and then in the Dukkah. The warmth of the spices is heightened by the richness of the olive oil for an unforgettable bite.
How to use
Dukkah is so much more versatile than just being used for dipping. Use it to season eggs, grilled meats, soups, salads and even popcorn. Try our recipe for Curried Coconut Tomato Soup with Dukkah Croutons.
We’ve had great success with dukkah pita chips—toss triangles of pita with olive oil and a healthy smattering of Dukkah. Spread pita triangles in one layer on a baking sheet and toast in a 400°F oven for 10 minutes. These are the ideal accompaniment to hummus, baba ganoush or a Middle Eastern inspired dip.
