Italy's summer truffle season is June through November. In this short time the folks at Savini Tartufi collect the precious truffles for their black truffle products. Unlike many other truffles on the market, Savini Tartufi includes no flavorings, essences or other mushrooms. What you get in this beautiful little jar is thinly sliced summer truffles preserved in olive oil. Nothing more. Their clean earthiness is apparent from the moment they're opened. Once heated slightly they release the fullness of their aroma and all their subtle nuances. We love adding them to an omelette or to a very grown up grilled cheese. Tuck some truffle and fontina cheese between crisp slices of rustic bread, grill and enjoy.
