We've all seen it - the abbey on a hilltop that seems to rise straight out of the ocean. Mont Saint-Michel is the iconic island off the coast of Northwestern France and it's also home to the producer of one of our new favorite treats.
When our friend Kitty Keller told us she was going to be importing a Double Chocolate Sable, as well as a Salted Caramel Sable, we were initially skeptics. Could the classic French butter cookie be improved upon? We were certainly willing to put aside our inhibitions…in the name of research.
Well, we were immediately hooked. The Salted Caramel is as insanely delicious and over the top as it sounds. The famous gooey caramel of the region gives a nice chew to the cookie while the salt provides balance and enhances the sweetness.
