We're proud to be the first in the United States to offer this fantastic product from Basilicata, a small area near the coast in Calabria, (the northern heel of the boot of Italy). These peppers are flash fried in locally produced extra virgin olive oil and dried to perfection. Heat is a mainstay in the cuisine of Calabria, and in particular Basilicata, so peppers like this are a staple. They would use them ground or crushed to add heat to sauces, both meat and tomato-based, to top pizza, and to add a slow burn of heat to braised dishes. But we've also been seen munching them with a crisp glass of wine or a beer...a spicy and crispy treat.
