Old Fashioned Cocktail
Substitute honeyed simple syrup in this new take on a classic cocktail.
1 tablespoon honeyed simple syrup (recipe follows)
2 dashes bitters
2 ounces rye whiskey or bourbon
1 1-inch strip lemon rind
1 amarena cherry
Shake syrup, bitters and whiskey with a handful of ice cubes in a cocktail shaker.
Strain and serve in a highball glass garnished with lemon twist and amarena cherry.
Makes one cocktail
Honeyed Simple Syrup:
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup Dolce Alveare Lemon Blossom Honey
In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add honey. Once dissolved, remove from heat and let cool to room temperature. Refrigerate for up to 3 weeks.
