
Baked Beans
Ingredients
1 pound Community Grains Cannellini Beans
1/2 medium red onion, chopped
8 oz bacon, chopped 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 cloves garlic
2 tablespoons molasses
2 tablespoons tomato paste
2 tablespoons ketchup
2 teaspoons salt
1 scant teaspoon
Freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
After sorting the beans, place them in an oven-safe pot and fill the pot with water tocover the beans by 2 inches. Next add the rest of the ingredients. Cover pot and place in a cold oven. Turn heat to 325 degrees F and bake for 2-4 hours, or until the beans are cooked. Start checking your beans after 1 hour to see how much water they have absorbed.If needed, add boiling water to the pot, cover, and return to the oven. If your beans are done, but there is too much liquid in the pot, place the pot on the stovetop and simmer (don’t boil) to evaporate some of the liquid. Once you’ve reached the desired consistency, remove the pot from the heat and serve. Enjoy!
