A Partnership Made in Paris

Mariage Freres

In 1999, our buyers sat down for the first of what would be many meetings with the owners of Mariage Frères at their teahouse in Paris. The subject at hand was whether to allow our company to begin importing their precious tea into the United States.

10 years ago, over a dessert of Tarte Tatin made with tea-poached pears, an agreement was struck. Ever since, we've been importing hundreds of cases a year to our stores in Oakland and Berkeley.
